Photo from Seattle, Washington StateSam Smith Park is a cozy park that is situated in the central part of the I-90 lid. Here you will find a nice play area for kids of different ages, numerous picnic tables, and tennis courts for your active recreation.

Everything is so clean and well maintained here. This park is a very nice place to keep the memory of a great person.

Sam Smith Park is popular among dog owners because of a detention pond - Blue Dog Pond. This is one of the most popular off-leash areas in Seattle. But keep in mind that anytime it rains the gravel gets really muddy and gross. We recommend wearing appropriate shoes.

Photo from Seattle, Washington StateSam Smith Park and the adjacent Judkins Park are situated along the bike path that runs along the I-90 Bridge and the bicycle tunnel that runs from Smith Park to the I-90 Bridge. This route can be really crowded.

It should be noted that this park features not only great trails for biking, but also walking and running paths that connect Sam Smith Park with several other parks, including Judkins Park and Jimi Hendrix Park.

Visitors will also find interesting pieces of art including Urban Peace Circle, a sculpture by Gerard Tsutakawa that is dedicated to children killed by gun violence in Seattle’s inner city.

Photo from Seattle, Washington StateThe park was named in honor of the first African American person on Seattle City Council and who also served for years in the Washington State Legislature. The name of Sam Smith is associated with the desire and efforts to lessen the gap between Seattle’s black and white communities.
