Coldwater Lake Recreation Area is located in the middle of the blast zone near Johnston Ridge Observatory at Mt. St. Helens.
Coldwater Lake is a very unusual lake, it was created during the eruption of the volcano at 1980. Dammed by volcanic debris flow Coldwater Creek filled the valley and created a 4-mile long Coldwater Lake.
